Area Highlights


Those who live in Mt. Pleasant benefit from excellent schools and medical facilities, a vibrant downtown and a rich culture and history. They experience arts, music, and cultural events throughout the year, and enjoy more than 300 acres of parks where they can walk, bike and play.

Mt. Pleasant is the home of Central Michigan University and serves more than 22,000 students on its home campus. The presence of a major public university brings Mt. Pleasant many opportunities for residents and creates thousands of jobs in the area. Mid-Michigan Community College, whose main campus is in
Harrison, has found a home here as well. MMCC, with one of the most respected nursing schools in the state, offers programs for those who wish to transfer to a university later or prepare today for a career in health, business, or industrial technologies.

Mt. Pleasant's public and private schools offer families great Kindergarten through grade 12 educational opportunities. Local schools include: Mt. Pleasant Public Schools, The Sacred Heart Academy, Renaissance Public School Academy and Morey Charter School.

Historic Downtown Mount Pleasant features fine dining, shopping, and the historic Broadway Theatre. Take a scenic canoe trip down the winding Chippewa River, attend a musical performance at Central Michigan University, or visit the Ziibiwing Center to learn more about the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.
